Year of Push 2.2 What Does Self-Care Look Like?

by | Apr 4, 2017 | Blog

Hey guys, if you’re new to these posts, listen to this podcast episode to get the scoop on what changes I’m making in my life and you can start back at my first daily post here.

The heavens have opened! Two nights of great sleep! I’m sure I’m going to start feeling better soon! I’m almost there.

I thought I’d share with you guys one thing I do each day to help me move towards my goals and feel proud of myself.

In the morning, while I’m showering, I ask myself, “what does impeccable self-care look like today?”

I go through the opportunities that exist in the day ahead to take great care of myself. I list them in my mind but I also visualize them.

They aren’t exclusively about what I eat and how I workout but those things are often included in the list.

I’ll give you an example of what was included yesterday.

20-minute meditation

Schedule massage

Level 10 effort during workout

Vacuum my car

Schedule dentist appointment

Every day looks a little different but I’m consistently bringing my attention to ways I can take great care of myself. It matters. I matter.

Speaking of ways I can take great care of myself, I’m looking forward to today’s workout. It’ll be a spicy one!

“Down Under”
3 Rounds:
50 Double-unders
20 Wallballs (20/14#)

50 Calorie Bike

2 Rounds:
50 Double-unders
20 Wallballs (20/14#)

35 Calorie Bike

1 Round:
50 Double-unders
20 Wallballs (20/14#)

20 Calorie Bike

If you’re doing the math (as I did when I read the workout), that’s 300 double unders, 120 wall balls and 105 cals biked. For time. Dannnnnng.

I really love wall balls. They’re a full-body workout and when they start to hurt, I remind myself that I’m building that strong, sexy booty and that pushes me to work just an extra bit harder!

I won’t lie – this workout was absolutely BRUTAL. Before I even finished the 3rd set of the first round I wanted to quit. But I didn’t. #proud

On the food front:

After the workout I had my favorite breakfast salad bowl for lunch.

I’m a huge fan of eating foods you love that love you back. For me, it’s not just about eating fat loss friendly foods but things I look forward to eating. I want to eat meals I enjoy that satisfy me.

I used to eat fat loss friendly foods I didn’t like. Things like grilled chicken and broccoli. It felt like a punishment. That wasn’t sustainable for me.

I used to eat foods that didn’t fill me up like protein bars & shakes. That wasn’t sustainable for me.

Of course I want my food choices to be fat loss friendly, but that’s just the first standard, not the only standard.

For dinner I went back to an old staple – cauliflower rice sautéed with a Paleo Power Meals stuffed pepper. OMG this is so tasty!
