Year of Push 2.13 What Can I Do?

by | Apr 19, 2017 | Blog

Well, yesterday’s blood donation certainly took a lot of out of me (blood, vomit and energy!) I always say that I never get sick but after struggling with a cold for weeks and then yesterday’s crazy blood donation situation…it’s been a rough couple of weeks!

I’m taking it easy today.

That’s hard for me to do. I want to be hitting the gym hard and eating what I planned to.

As much as it frustrates me, I’m grateful to be able to remind myself that I’m working with my body, not against it. We’re on the same team.

For me, “taking it easy” means not lifting heavy weights, making time for a nap-attempt and doing the work that must get done without taking on anything else.

Even though I skipped my heavy lifting workout today, I went for a 3 mile walk and did 100 bodyweight squats.

It’s so easy to focus on what you can’t do (I didn’t feel up for heavy front squats and power snatches today) but the reality is, we are instantly empowered when we focus on what we can do.

While today’s heavy workout was out, there’s so much that could be in.

While the idea of chicken cakes, fish & salad make my stomach turn today, that doesn’t mean I need to turn to crackers and applesauce.

What can I do? Not panic about food. I’m actually not really hungry.

I can make sure that when I do eat, it’s fat loss friendly.

I can focus on what fat loss friendly options do appeal to me today like bone broth or chicken soup.

After some soup tonight, I had avocado & ground turkey – both pretty bland and also fat loss friendly.

My takeaway for myself and for you is this:

Don’t focus on what you can’t do today or any day. Focus on what you can do.

You’ll find whichever you’re looking for.

I get so many emails from people expressing what is going wrong, what they can’t do & why. Guys, redirect. What can you do today? What are you able and willing to do today?

Sure, there are tons of things on any given day we can’t do. There are even more that we can.
