Elizabeth's Picks
Explore a curated selection of my favorite books, personal care items, foods, podcasts, and online communities that inspire and empower me every day. With nearly 2,000 episodes of my podcast, some of my faves from years ago aren’t favorites anymore but I wanted to create a hub where I can update what supplements I’m loving, the favorite protein powder I’m using, recent books I recommend and more!
Before you get into it: have you seen that I just released a brand new, comprehensive e-book on fat loss?! Get instant access here – I’ll be doing exclusive Q&As for everyone who gets a copy!
My Favorite Wellness Products
Lumebox Handheld Red Light
I use this EVERY day and it’s the #1 gift I give to people I love. It’s incredible for blood flow, healing, inflammation, skin health, mood and more. My kids use it, my husband uses it – no joke I am obsessed. I even bring it with me when I travel. You can learn more and save a couple hundred bucks through this link.
Infrared Sauna
Okay, I might take some hits for this one as I absolutely know that a sauna isn’t an in-home item for all people or even most people. BUT! Many gyms have infrared saunas you can take advantage of and wellness hubs are popping up everywhere offering sauna packages. I sit in our sauna for at least 30 minutes very single day. Incredible for detox. This is the one we have.
Digestive Enzymes
I could rant about this for days but I’ll try to keep this concise: if you don’t digest your food optimally, EVERYTHING suffers. Energy suffers, immunity suffers, sleep suffers…everything. Add to that the fact that we don’t chew our food near enough and we’re often rushing through our meals – we need digestive enzymes. I do not go without these. They’re always in my purse and I have them with every meal. My #1 brand is Amare and here’s another I’ve bought before.
Walking Pad or Treadmill
Sitting is the new smoking. We spend far too much time on our butts and it impacts of physical and mental health. There’s so much that I can do while walking, so I do! I have a walking pad/treadmill with a little platform across the rails where I rest my laptop and water. If I’m researching, responding to emails or doing busy work, I’m absolutley walking. There are tons of affordable and space-saving walking pads on Amazon!
Protein Powder
I use a protein powder every single day. I strongly believe that most people don’t get enough protein and it’s a huge component of maintaining muscle mass, stabilizing blood sugar, optimizing energy, supporting immune health and more. FIT20 is the one I use most but I also have this one on autoship (my kids love both) or if you’re feeling spendy, this one is great too, just pricey.
Tongue Scraper
Cheap and easy to add into your routine. There’s no getting around the fact that oral health is a lead domino for your overall health. You can find these anywhere, but here’s the one I have.
Stress Support
Stress is toxic. It doesn’t matter if it’s physical stress, environmental stress, emotional stress or any other kind of stress, most of us are chronically stressed and that is destructive to our hormones, immune systems, metabolism and mental health. This should be a whole category in and of itself, but for brevity, Mood+ is my $1 supplement for stress support.
A Plain, Old Journal
Gratitude changes your brain and I love to keep track of things I’m grateful for. It’s a great mental exercise. I also think it’s powerful to document on paper what you’re working towards and struggling through. Daily journaling, even if only for 2 minutes, is a big time health habit in my life!
My Daily Personal Care Products
FATCO for EVERYTHING
Fatco is my go-to clean skin care and has been for over 10 years now. I used to have all sorts of skin issues and FATCO addressesd all of them. I get compliments on my skin all the time and I point every person to FATCO. I use their oil cleanser, moisturizer, lip balm and more. I think if you use the code PRIMAL you can save a few bucks.
Non-Toxic Floss
Don’t even get me started on how insane it is that most floss contains BPA – a serious toxin and endocrine disrupter. Worse, we’re putting it in our mouth, where absorption is pretty much guaranteed. Trash that junk – here’s non toxic floss. And if you aren’t flossing at least once daily, here’s your reminder to start!
Castor Oil
I’m obsessed with castor oil. The thing is, kind of like olive oil, there are a lot of cheap imitations on the market. Castor oil isn’t just great for moisturizing but also supportive of detox and minimizing inflammation. The ONLY brand I buy is Queen of Thrones.
Hair Care
This is a big one that could be a cateorgy of it’s own. I have curly hair and I use LUS brand shampoo and conditioner – it’s free of phthalates, parabens, synthetic dyes, sulfates and more – plus it’s great for curly hair. And I’ve actually started using some specific probiotics meant for hair – I know that sounds crazy but it’s actually pretty neat. You can check that out here.
Current Fave Books
The Four Agreements by Don Miguel Ruiz
This book presents a powerful code of conduct that can rapidly transform our lives to a new experience of freedom, true happiness, and love. My favorite of the 4 agreements is: make no assumptions. Available on Amazon.
The Ruthless Elimination of Hurry by John Mark Comer
We are rushing through our lives, barely skimming the surface and certainly not prioritizing the holy work of healing. It’s why we’re endlessly stressed, unfulfilled and wrestling with the same challenges for decades. Get the book.
Buy Back Your Time by Dan Martel
If time matters to you, especially if you feel like it’s in short supply, this book will help you feel dramatically more in control of your time! It’s especially great for business owners. Available on Amazon and Audible.
The Third Door by Alex Banayan
If you are a motivated individual who wants to take your results to the next level, this is an incredible book. It shifted the way I think about my work and my life and I try to re-visit it a least every couple of years. Available on Amazon and Audible.
Primal Body, Primal Mind by Nora Gedgaudas
This is a foundational book if you want to learn more about health and nutrition. I have easily read hundreds of books on nutrition and health, but there’s something about this one that just hits in a real, practical, applicable way. Get it here on Amazon.
The War of Art by Steven Pressfield
Not to be confused with The Art of War, this is an essential read for any creative person. If you’re a writer, a business owner or anyone who needs daily discipline, I think you’ll get a lot from this one. It’s a super easy read. Get it on Amazon.
Unreasonable Hospitality by Will Guidara
If you’re in sales, business or customer service, you need to read this book. Even if you’re not and you care about personal hospitality with friends or family, this is absolutely at the top of my life! Purchase on Amazon or Audible.
Chasing Cupcakes by Elizabeth Benton
I mean, I’m biased. I think the author is pretty great. But in all seriousness, every time I go back through this book, it helps me immeasureably! You can buy it here on Amazon and I narrate the Audible version.
Edible Favorites
Coffee
I do experiment with different coffee beans (Bulletproof remains a staple), the biggest shift I made that matters is moving away from coffee machines with plastic parts. That scalding hot water moving through plastic pretty much ensures we’re getting plastic in our beverage. Now I use a simple pourover process – great coffee and no plastic. Here’s a link to a collection of my coffee staples.
Coconut Aminos
This is my go-to for flavor whether we’re talking meat or veggies. I use it on broccoli, brussels sprouts, chicken, fish and in sauces and dressings. This is probably one of only a few things I never want to run out of! You can find it at most major grocery stores or order via Amazon.
Protein Powder
I know we already hit this one, but I can’t have an edible category without it! I put protein powder in greek yogurt, in protein shakes, in baked goods – anywhere I can. FIT20 is my go-to but you won’t find me without a clean, delicious protein powder.
Primal Kitchen Products
We’ll lump a bunch of things into this category but for mayonaisse, dressings and tallow, I like the Primal Kitchen brand. It’s important to me to avoid seed oils and they do a great job of it! You can find it at most major grocers or buy via Amazon.
