My travel habits used to be a complete nightmare. I’d binge in airports, overeat on roadtrips and justify every indulgence because I was out of my normal routine.
All the while, I’d make myself empty (yet well intentioned) promises about how “on point” I’d be when I returned home.
I’d return home from vacations, business trips or road trips feeling exhausted, defeated and tremendously disappointed in myself.
I was both physically & emotionally heavier than when I had left.
Because of this habit, I feared travel. I felt like it was impossible to make progress towards my goals, impossible to avoid derailing, when I was away from home.
But, I successfully transformed my travel habits & in today’s episode I’m going to share with you the steps I took to create the change.

Avoiding Travel Trainwrecks Part 1
I love these ideas. In the past visiting my Dad started with good intentions and then I fell into… but they don’t eat like me, you know whatever excuse I could come up, whine, whine, moan, moan. I’ve gotten much better with my eating choices over the years and it’s because I’m more aware. I’ve also come to the realization that the less I stress, the better the visit is. After all I’m not there for the food, I’m there for spending quality time with my dad that I only see twice a year. If my Dad wants to order pizza because it’s convenient for him and he doesn’t have to cook, one slice won’t hurt me. And if I don’t want to eat mediocre pizza, if I ask that we have another option, my Dad would totally support it. One of the other things I struggled in the past with is these absolutely fabulous donuts at WaWa. They are their version of the Entenmann’s chocolate covered donut and OMG… I can only get these a couple times a year because there isn’t a WaWa in Atlanta… thank goodness 🙂 Anyway… I love your strategy of one treat. Because I can eat a donut without the guilt… say WHAT!!! And if start my day off eating fuel then who knows, I might not even want that donut. I mean I know what they taste like, so it’s not like I have to have them. I’m totally saving this episode and the other travel ones as reminders to listen to before going to visit my Dad this summer.
