Does tough love work? Is it what you need to start making better choices? Who should give tough love? In this episode we talk about the difference between choices & excuses and where I think tough love should come from (and who it won’t work for)

I find that, when it’s constructive (as opposed to strictly critical), tough love can be helpful. The problem is: many people give unsolicited advice and actual unkindness masked as “tough love.” If it’s missing the LOVE, I-actually-care-about-your-wellbeing component, it’s not “tough love” it’s just bullying. I’ve gotten a lot of this, and I’ve learned to see it for what it is: an excuse for people to say cruel things for their own satisfaction. I don’t let these jerks hold me back.
Great points, Lauren! I’m never in favor of unsolicited advice! Thanks so much for weighing in!
I am starting from the beginning and re-listening to your podcasts. This one was powerful for me. The greatest take away for me was how you can give up progress for comfort by your choices. Keep doing more podcasts like this, it was awseome.
Thanks Cindy! So glad you enjoyed it! You might really like episode 093 if you liked this one! xo
