I’m excited to kick off a new series on the podcast: Food As Medicine!
Every couple of weeks I’ll be featuring one food or ingredient and sharing it’s medicinal benefits!
This series is in no way meant to replace Western medicine but there is absolutely room for both approaches!
In today’s episode, we’re talking about the medicinal benefits of coconut. Don’t miss it!

Episode 446: Bulletproof Coffee & MCTs
Thrive Market: Spectrum Organic Unrefined Coconut Oil
Thrive Market: Artisana Coconut Butter Packets
In October 2019, our relationship with Thrive Market changed. They decided to put their marketing dollars in avenues outside of podcasting but we still think they’re a good choice if you’re looking to save money on health & personal care products.
Just tried my first semi-bulletproof coffee. I used cheap walmart brand french roast Colombian coffee, walmart brand coconut oil (can’t afford MCT oil right now), and unsalted Kerrygold butter. I added no sugar or other sweetener, but I added a splash of Organic whole Milk. I like the creamy taste and texture of the coffee.
Hi Mickey! Life is all about what YOU can do, so I think that’s fantastic! Consider cream over milk to reduce the sugars.
Hi!
I am currently injured and unable to exercise for a few weeks. I just bought Bulletproof Brain Octane MCT oil. If I drink this in the am with either matcha or coffee (for breakfast), is the high fat content detrimental to my fat-loss efforts since I am not burning anything off through exercise? Or will this aid in fat-burn, without exercise, too?
Thank you!
Fat content allowing for fat loss depends on the whole picture of your day, not just one meal. So it really depends on what you’re eating over the whole day, does that make sense?
Yes! So if I’m eating a very clean, balanced diet (I don’t eat processed foods and stay away from refined carbs) and eat lots of fruit/veggies and healthy fats and protein from eggs, fish, beans, Greek yogurt and tofu, does this mct coffee sound like a good breakfast option?
Great series!
Trader Joe’s has a great organic coconut milk as well.
I have been trying to listen to this podcast primal Potential Foods’s Medicine Coconut and after a few minutes the audio doesn’t play. I’ve tried a few times and the audio goes silent. Thank You
Hi Phyllis! Can you tell me where you’re trying to listen? iTunes? Stitcher? Spotify? iHeartRadio? PodBean? My website? Elsewhere?
I did a search for Primal Potential for Alexa. Nothing came up. Any suggestions?
I love this medicinal series.
Thank you!
