I hate to disappoint you, but “eating healthy” doesn’t guarantee fat loss.
I can’t tell you how many people I talk with who are frustrated that they’ve cleaned up their eating habits but aren’t seeing fat loss results.
Eating clean isn’t enough.
If what you’re doing isn’t working, it’s time for a change.
And while you’re here: get used to it. Get used to things changing. Get used to things not working. You won’t ever be able to adopt a strategy and expect it to work forever.
Don’t keep doing things that don’t work just because you stubbornly believe they should.
First, it’s important to acknowledge that your idea of “eating clean” might be flawed. Maybe you’ve believed what you’ve read or heard and it’s just not true. It might not be true in general or it just might not be true for you.
Second, the hormonal conditions required for fat burning are not as simple asĀ “eat clean”.
I’ve talked at length on the podcast about how eating less and moving more does not necessarily trigger fat loss. Definitely check out this podcast if you want to understand why calories aren’t the be-all-end-all of fat loss.
There are undeniable fat loss best practices and I’m going to share them with you today.
They aren’t complicated. They don’t require counting or measuring. They are simple, straight forward and will also increase your energy and improve your mood.
I actually used to sell this as an e-book but I’ve decided I want every single one of you to be able to access it for free. You can download it immediately right here. Feel free to share it!
No matter what you do, I hope you’ll keep this in mind:
Break the mold. You don’t have to do anything in your life the way others do it, the way you’ve thought it should be done.
Do what works for you. That’s all you should be paying attention to.
You don’t have to believe what you’ve always believed or conform to what others say is right or true (including what I say!) Find what is true for you. Find what works for you.
I just found your podcasts and have been listening to them in my car as I go from customer to customer, I am a pet sitter. I own my own business (talk about stress!!)
I have hypothyroidism and I am taking Levothyroxine (sp?) I got a partial hysterectomy and my right ovary removed so now I am on Estriol patches
I have an irregular heartbeat so I am on a beta blocker. And I have depression/anxiety/stress so I am on an antidepressant!!
I am the heaviest now that I have ever been weighing 165 pounds, I am 5’4″ and I will be 57 years old in August. My husband and I are raising our almost six-year-old granddaughter which also creates a lot of stress!
So I just had to take a moment to say I am so impressed with what you have done, you look absolutely wonderful!
I have tried the whole 30 diet and as soon as the 30 days was over I went back to eating the way I normally did and felt like crap!
It’s just too hard for me to stick to that kind of strict eating! I love your idea of taking it one day at a time and everything you have said on your Podcasts makes a lot of sense! I have also recommended your Podcasts to my sister who is older than me but has exactly the same problems I do except for the heart problem.
You said that you left a lot of weights and I am a member of the YMCA. I want to focus on losing the weight on the three B’s, boobs and belly and butt!!
Any advice you can give me on strength training would be appreciated because I have absolutely no strength in my legs or my arms even though I walk dogs a lot every day!
Thank you!
Best wishes, Irene
Hi Irene! My super, super strong recommendation is that you focus on nutrition for right now. That is the PRIMARY driver of change. When you feel like you’re super comfortable with the nutritional improvements, then add movement. The #1 most effective way to lose fat, no matter where you want to lose it from, is optimizing nutrition!!
