Two things in particular really stand out to me from the webinar.

The first was something Morgan shared. He was talking about how there’s a difference between lifting weights and strength training effectively. He said a lot of people are using weights in ways that don’t build strength – they’re actually just improving muscular endurance or stamina. If you listen to the replay for no other reason, listen to make sure you are clear on this distinction!

The second thing that really stands out in my mind was towards the beginning when I was talking about the muscle loss that happens if we don’t effectively strength train. It’s significant and, if you aren’t countering it, it’s constant from your 30s until you die. But here’s the thing…

You don’t get to choose to lose muscle only in your calves or your biceps. When you lose muscle mass, you’re losing muscle mass in your heart, in your lungs, in your GI system too! So you’re not only weaker functionally, your heart and lungs are weaker too. Your reducing your body’s ability to keep you safe and healthy.
