Year of Push 2.22 I Was Lightening

by | May 2, 2017 | Blog

There is someone who knows me better than anyone else. When I got the text, “Listen to this song, it reminds me of you”, I knew it was probably spot on.

The song was Thunder by Imagine Dragons.

Not a yes sir, not a follower…

I was lightening before the thunder

Yup. In love with it.

Think about a storm for a second…

If you aren’t paying attention, you can miss the lightening but you can’t miss the thunder. The thunder is loud, it demands attention. The lightening is silent. Powerful, but silent.

I love this.

I don’t talk about how many hours a day or a week I work.

I don’t talk about the (literally) unbelievable trials I’ve been through in the past few years.

There are hardships I haven’t even shared with my family.

It has been hard as hell at every single turn. Harder than I could have imagined.

But…

I am the lightening before the thunder.

I show up and I do the work and I don’t need to make a sound.

I’m not a “yessir”; I’m not a follower.

I don’t care if you understand me or like me.

I’m here to create my best, happiest, most fulfilling life and I know that when I stand in my own truth, the right opportunities and people will come into my life.

I love this.

I’m bringing that attitude into today’s workout. I am the lightening before the thunder.

My goal was to bring 100% effort to each 4 minute WOD and not hold back at all. No pacing. Well, the pace is: GO.

When I wanted to give up, I reminded myself that I’m the lightening.

I’m not a follower. When everyone else slows down, I don’t. I put my foot on the gas.

Today’s workout felt great. I left the gym proud. I wanted to puke on my shoes, but I was proud.

On the food front:

Remember last week how I wrote about my response to PMS? I’m now within a couple hours of starting my cycle so I’m still having a bit more hunger than normal. Answer: I eat more. Usually more protein & veggies.

Around 9am (I woke up at 4:30a) I had balsamic glazed chicken & tomatoes and a handful of almonds.

After my workout, around 2pm I had a beautiful chicken cobb salad. It was romaine, tomatoes, chicken, avocado & bacon. Super tasty!

Dinner was shrimp cocktail, sushi & pickled brussels sprouts. Yup, entirely random and just the way I like it!
