There’s a lot of misunderstanding and misinformation about food and metabolism. Every couple of months I want to devote an episode to misunderstandings about fat, misunderstandings about protein and misunderstandings about carbohydrates.

In today’s episode, we are tackling some major misunderstandings about carbs and blood sugar. We’ll also talk about specific changes you can make to improve your carbohydrate choices without drastic dieting choices and cutting out carbs.

If you have questions about carbs in general and want to get more clear on the basics, please check out episode 122 of the Primal Potential Podcast.

Hi EB. I gave a listen to your podcast on carbs & sugar. Such great & extremely valuable info. Thank you sooooo much…. you requested reaching out of there was anything that would be helpful for a podcast subject. And although im certain you have previous discussions around portion control. And how to stop eating when you’ve had enough but it’s tasty. Etc would be so beneficial. I feel like I eat soooo much food. I’m a volume eater and I’m thinking it’s doing me a dis-service. Thanks for EVERYTHING and all you do

The answer here is: PRACTICE. Everything feels hard until we are practiced at it. So I’d suggest you identify what would represent an improvement to you and you practice and practice and practice and practice and practice.

Hi EB! With regard to which topic i’m dying to here about, an episode about fat “setpoint” would be great.
Because of bad eating habits and (i suspect) my thyroid, i’ve gained like 25 pounds and i feel like my body is really confortable in that weight. I think so cause i’ve had “good weeks” but there hasn’t been a drastic change so i’m curious if my “body weight setpoint” or “bf% setpoint” has gone up.

    Thank you!

Hi Mariana. Good weeks won’t create drastic change. Good months (consecutively) will. Does our body get comfortable? Sure. Do the strategies for results change because of that? Nope. The key is consistency. If you look back through your journal, you’ll likely see that you aren’t consistent with the basics of fat loss – fat loss breakfast, Golden rules, etc. If your body isn’t responding, something needs to change. Either your consistency or your strategy or both.
